The Helga hood is made of 100% cotton and has a semicircular hood with a brim. This garment is easy to wear and is a perfect complement to an authentic medieval costume.
In the mid-15th century, round bonnets were popular with city women, elderly servants and housewives. They not only protected the wearer's hair from dirt and the weather while working, but were also a sign of the woman's status. In the Middle Ages, only unmarried women were allowed to wear their hair uncovered. A married woman without a head covering was considered a “free woman”. Hoods in many colors and shapes are an integral part of every costume.
